Exemption/Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Students who have done previous studeis or have had extensive work experience in some aspects of their proposed course may apply to the College to be given credit or exemption from some of their subjets. Credit will be given only when the students can demonstrate the necessary competencies. RPL will only be granted before commencement of the student's course either before starting of the course or within the first two weeks of starting of the course. Decisions on RPL can be appealed. Please contact the College for information on the appeal process. Often, granting of RPL results in the shortening of actual duration of the course, which in the case of international students, will be notified to Department of immigration and Citizenship(DIAC) via PRISMS. There isa fee for RPL service. Please check with the college for details. The college has well-established student's dispute/grievance policies in place. For Details please refer to the student handbook. Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LL & N) support will be provided in all subjects. Queensford College will organize additional LL & N support if required on a fee per service basis. For students who apply offshore, the College offers various other services. More detailed information on student services is also available in the Student Handbook. The college provides career advice to students through experienced academic staff on an appointment basis. For career advice, students should contact relevant Head of Studies. All students have the right to be treated in a fair and considerate manner while studying at Queensford College. Students can report any complaints or grievances to the Student Welfare Officer. If you require an airport pickup, please advise the college at lease 14 days in advance. A college representative shall meet you at the airport and transport you to your accomodation for a charge of $150.00 Queensford College does not provide accommodation. However, our college representative can guide the students in finding suitable accommodation for students. The accommodation placement fee is $ 150.00. Students can enjoy any one of the following accommodation types. Homestay- Students can enjoy the opportunity of living with an Australian family and practicing their English Language skills. Please offer the college 14 days notice if you require our staff to arrange Homestay accommodation for you. It is estimated that students who live alone spend a total of between $200.00 and $300.00 per week on accommodation, food and other living expenses Overseas Health Cover (OHSC) Premiums All international students are required to take up OSHC before they start the course at the College. This can be either arranged by the College or directly arranged with the service provider. The premiums change frequently and students are requested to check the Medibank Private website http://www.medibank.com.au or AHM Website http://www.ahm.com.au The college is located close to public train, bus and ferry services. Several time-limited and fee based parking places are located around the college. The college does not have any free car parking for either students or staff. According to Queensland Government regulations, intrenational students are eligibile to apply for student travel concessions. All the text and reference books can be purchased from a bookstore. Second hand text books and course notes may be placed 'for sale' on the College Notice Board. In some cases, students are required to purchase course notes provided by the college. All new students are issued with a free student ID card showing their photograph and student number. Students are required to carry this card at all times while on College premises and at other locations as prescribed by teh teacheror Head of Studies. Students are required to produce their student ID on demand by any staff of the colelge. These cards can be collected form the College by the student.
